Jews the holiday will continue until Saturday. According to tradition, Moses received the Ten Commandments from God at this season of the year. Moses is said to have established for all ages the covenant between God and Israel, In its origin, S8hovuos celebrates the harvest. Thus it has become a custom for confirmation services to be held in the temples and synagogs on the Feast of Weeks, Flowers and plants decorate the pulpit and young children offer the first fruits of the season before the open Ark of the Covenant.

Pledge Fidelity To Faith

Children who have completed their early religious education pledge themselves to the principles of their faith. The rabbi charges the confirmands to prove worthy of their heritage by living in such a way as to be pleasing in the sight of God and man. “Shovuos has deep significance for modern man,” the synagog points out. “In an age of ideological conflict, it brings a message of liberty under law and of sympathy and understanding

Go to Church Sunday

ETERNALLY LOST! WHY?

By W. L Latham

Multitudes will be lost, not because they deliberately chose to be, but because they POSTPONED their preparation to meet God. Like Felix of old, they say, “Go thy way for this time; when I have a CONVENIENT season, I will call for thee.” “Procrastination is the thief of time.” Without doubt, it is the greatest thief of all time. It has stolen from old and young many opportunities which held in store great possibilities for time and for eternity. Therefore we gre urged to “Seek ye the Lord WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND, call upon Him while He is near.” Isa. 55:6. This text plainly indicates there will come a time when He cannot be found. /

We may be so intoxicated and stupefied by sin that we feel no concern for the future, but the sentence of doom at the judgment bar of God will have a most sobering effect on every lost soul, Thosé awful words. “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels,” will cause the courage of every bold and defiant sinner to melt like wax. “Instead of their careless indifference concerning the requirements of God, “there shall be walling and gnashing of teeth.”

After men have grieved away the Holy Spirit by their procrastination, and the judgments of the last days begin to rest heavily upon them, they will seek the Lord with intensity of desire, but all to no avail; for God Himself declares, “Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me; for they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord; they would none of my: counsel; they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.” Prov. 1:28-31.,

Repeatedly, and most emphatically, the Lord urges the sinner to flee from the wrath to come. And there is no hope of salvation for any except those who cheerfully OBEY Him. Christ Himself said, “If you wilt enter into life, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.” Matt. 19:17. Those who, by the grace of God, heéd this admonition will be numbered with the redeemed, for of them it is said, “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Rev. 22:14.

Those gates are wide open for all to enter who will accept Jesus Christ, and trust in His saving grace for power to overcome all sin, for He is “the author of eternal salvation unto all them that OBEY Him.” Heb, 5:9. This obedience must be ABSOLUTE, for the apostle James declares that “Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in ONE POINT, he is guilty of all.” Jas. 2:10. But all service must be ‘inspired by love; a love that is expressed in obedience, for “This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:3.

We are not promised an easy way to heaven, but the same grace that sustained Job in his trying hour will sustain us if we can say with him, “T have esteemed the words of His mouth MORE than my NECESSARY food.” Job 23:12. Some are afraid to obey God's command to “Remember the sabbath

their “necessary food.” But if we are to be saved we must believe Christ when He said, “Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and His righteousness. AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.” Matt. 6:33. Friend, do you believe Him sufficiently to obey Him in keeping the seventh-day sabbath, as He has commanded you tb do? He died for you. Are you willing to live for Him? He says, “Be thou faithful UNTO DEATH, and I will give thee the crown of life,” Rev. 2:10.

You are cordially invited to attend the Seventh-Day Adventist Church every Saturday morning. Sabbath Schoel, 9:30. Sermon, 10:50. Location: Orange and Laurel. Address me at 2812 Ruckle 8t., Zone 5. : ;
