Young Composer Wins Scholarship

NEW YORK, May 21—The annual George Gershwin Memorial Fund $1000 scholarship award was presented to Ned Rorem, 25-year-old composer, at the fifth annual Gershwin memorial concert at Carnegie Hall. The prize-winning composition, Overture in C, was given its first performance at the concert by the Longines Bymphonette Orchestra conducted Mishel Piastro.
