day with all sorts of figure problems—from thick ankles to flabby arms. They range from petite 100-pounders to buxom 200-plus types, but they're all impelled by the Kent motto: “Be fit, not fat.” Mrs. Lilly's system, known . formally as the Gardner Therapeutic and Reducing Method, aims at spot reducing instead of slicing overall weight. “Bumps and bulges happen even to tiny gals after 30" she obseryes,
Three Machines, The salon is equipped with three adjustable reducing mas chines, with chain conveyor belts that propel light {fiber rollers over the desired spots for reducing massage. The machines, can be adjusted for lighter or deeper massage as well as for different areas. Mrs, Lilly's clients spend .an hour a day, five days a week, in machines. The time doesn't pass slowly. “Reducees” may smoke, read, knit, or manicure their nails during the massage. One voice student takes ad-

vantage of her hour to do vocal exercises, “My job here” comments Mrs, Lilly, “is just like being a hostess from morning till night, keeping these women entertained. And I meet the loveliest people in Indianap-
olis.”
Diet Included
In addftion to the machine massage, Kent clients also follow a supervised diet, It's not a drastic, starvation-type regime—just a sensible, well-bal-anced diet with plenty of greens and lean meats. Mrs. Lilly herself is an advertisement for the salon. When she began work as an assistant there 10 years ago she weig'ied a bulky 163. It took three months of “rolling” plus cor. rective eating to trim her down to 124 pounds and practicallyperfect proportions. A native of Sandborn, Ind, Mrs. Lilly was trained in Ricnhmond by Mrs. Anna Booth, in-
ventor of the machine used in the salon,
With the client seated, the machines can be adjusted to massage upper arms, shoulders and thighs. Other adjustments enable the machine to reach ankles for massage.
