Everyone has a chance. There are prizes for tarpon caught on heavy tackle, on light tackle, from rowboats, a women’s tourney, a master’s jackpot, payment of which is determined by the number of entrants, for htis is the only part of the event where an entry fee is required. Weekly Awards, Too There are weekly awards, a guide's event, children’s - day, mayor's day, prizes for released| tarpon (those that have been’ caught prior to the event, tagged and released), a prize for the first tarpon caught, the largest, for 150-pounders and hundreds of others. Fishing costs for the roundup vary from $25 to $40, depending upon the size of the fishing party and the type of guide boat needed. Usually the guide boats furnish all the necessary tackle and ear. The fishing guides of St. , Petersburg and the greater Gulf beaches are noted for their ability to locate and bring in good catches. More than 40 registered guides have already entered the roundup. Si Active in the arrangements for the Tarpon Roundup is Rube Allyn, fishing editor .for the St. Petersburg Times, author and, radio commentator. Rube is, perhaps, Florida's) foremost expert on fishing and hunting, and he has spent a great deal of time and effort to bring the sport to the peak it en-| Joys today. Rube’s paper, the Times, has, as in past years, caught and reJeased a tarpon dubbed, “Pinella’s Pete,” and he's worth $600 to the angler who sinks his hook into him. Regardless of time and tide, this annual Tarpon Roundup gets underway at 12:01 a. m.
