basketball, You wonder why all of a sudden half a million people around Indianapolis alone suddenly come to life and want tickets to the state finals. It doesn't matter that tickets aren't to be had. Or that half the people may not even know .who's playing. Or that grandfather hadn't seen a basketball game since Ole Doc Naismith first breathed life into a basketball in 1892 that gave birth to.the ouicries heard the nation over. They just want to go to the state tournament. They want to see it because of teams like Jasper, In the words of its Coach Leo (Cabby) O'Neill, Jasper has gone from “ashes to silk” this season, Jasper Faces Auburn
And right now the Wildcats are
the aristocracy of Auburn, their opponents in Saturday’s..second game of the state finals, Madison and South Bend Central—only survivors among 769 who began the long march toward the state title last month. But for Jasper the Wildcats have shed a few rags before donning the riches. Nine losses in 20 games during the season shows the Southern Indiana boys have had to scrape for an existence.
