Movietowners Quit Malibu For Las Vegas ‘Roughing’

HOLLYWOOD, Mar. 5 (UP)—The place to see movie stars these days is not Vine Street in Hollywood but the roaring main stem in Las Vegas. The celebrities who made Malibu and Palm Springs the place to go have moved north 300 miles to turn Las Vegas into a gay, gambling resort town. Now it wants to be famous for Boulder Dam, al-vear sports, healthful air and sumptuous hotels. You can still gamble 24 hours, but that's no longer being stressed. © LURED BY one set of attractions or the other, a flock of movie stars are settling down in Las Vegas. Clara Bow and her husband, Rex Bell, operate a ranch and sport clothes store there. Irene Dunne and Loretta Young commute from Hollywood -to overse their real estate interests. Actors walting out their divorces or betting their money swarm along the five-mile “strip.” The El Ranch Vegas Hotel says that, all in one day, it entertained Gary Cooper and Andy Devine, resting from a deer hunt; Eleanor Powell, headlining a floor show; her husband, Glenn Ford, who'd been bass fishing, and Frank Sinatra, Rod Cameron and Bob Stack. celebrities were at another hotel-producer Bill

John Agar figure that's the best way to handle two acting careers in the family. They also figure it works out best for the picture and for the others who work with them. “We each have our jobs,” | Miss Temple points out. “The director and other people have different things to discuss with each of us. Then the other one is in the way.” ” ” » THEY STARTED working out their man-and-wife system when they first played opposite each other in" “Fort Apache.”

| It was perfected when they

played lovers again in RKO Ra‘dio’s “Baltimore Escapade.” The two have separate portable dressing rooms. They spend almost no time in each other's dressing room and little time together on the set. “If we were talking to each other,” Miss Temple thinks, “some people would hesitate to come up and interrupt; even though they had important business to talk about.” » ” . MISS TEMPLE doesn't have much time between scenes anyway, because of a constant demand for interviews and pictures of her. “We don't like to give joint interviews,” she said, “We each like to be on our own. Naturally, a lot of people ask John about -me, but aioe his picture came out more of the Interviews are
