The Ninth is a terrific job, even for the best professionals.. In the first two movements there were weak spots, particularly in the strings, which Mr, Hoffman knows much better than I do. But the total performance was amazing. In the choral finale, the Choral Union did splendidly. So did the quartet of faculty soloists in what must be one of the most ungrateful tasks in music. Good old Ludwig wrote as he wanted to’ write, and let the soloists be damned. Yesterday's concert is important as a milestone in IU musicschool history. That school is going places.
