MEDINA, N. Y,, Feb, 8 (UP)~— Police waited today for improvement in the condition of Mrs. Frances Hagerman, who was

band, before questioning her about the tragedy which wiped out her family, # Officials said Mrs. Hagerman's

husband, Carl, 29, killed himself, his two children and her mother last night. Mrs. Hagerman was taken to a hospital with wounds in the shoulder and hand after she took refuge in the home of a neighbor.

Blackie Halligan Dies; Hero of Guadalcanal

FT. MONMOUTH, N. J. Feb.

Halligan, outstanding carrier pigeon hero of the Pacific war theater during World War II was reported-today by-the U. 8. Army Bignal Corps. Blackie was cited and decorated for carrying a patrol message| to Guadalcanal headquarters that led to the extermination of 300 enemy soldiers even though he was wounded by Japanese flak. He was retired to Ft. Monmouth after the war.
