Playthings for Baby
A strong piece of cord-fishing line is excellent and odds and ends found in every household are convenient for the “makings” of most satisfying babies’ playthings. Empty spools can be strung. Left unpainted or decorated with nonpoisonous paint, they fit the baby’s grip ‘well and have a good substantial feeling -that he will enjoy. They can be boiled, too, if they begin to get dirty. Large coat-size buttons are also the raw stuff of which a jingly hand-filling toy can be made. Smaller buttons ‘may be used but aren't as satisfactory, as they are harder for the inexperienced hand to hold. There's always the outside chance, too, that one will be swallowed should the string break or become untied. The little Christmas bells used on trees or as a part of a holiday coat lapel will make a fine string toy. One should be sure that these arp made substantially
