MAKE RHYTHM AND A DRUM--Drums, and drums attract children all over the world. What fs it armies march and people dance to the roll of a drum rhythm! Why not start a rhythm band or put on a - show in the neighborhood, at school, or at your Scout cub or troop! You can make all of your own instruments, but band will be successful without a drum. Barrels, nail kegs, wooden buckets, cheese boxes, chopping bowls, tin cans, and flower pots make possible drum frames. The } drum heads are made of rawhide, but a circular, piece of rubber © cut from an inner-tube and stretched over jhe Srum frame gives - a4 good tom-tom sound. Chamois, a soft leather, may be used, | but it gives a flat, dead sound. For the “flower-pot” drum the rope handle is not necessary, but it makes a novel hanger. Watch the next few weeks for other rhythm d ideas. * TOMORROW--MILK BOTTLE CAP COLLECTIONS, *s
