YOUTH helps youth at Riley Hospital. This slogan is the theme of the annual charity ball sponsored by the Sub Deb and Squire Federation. The dance, the White Whirl, will be held this year on Jan. 28 in the Indiana Roof Ballroom. Elliott Lawrence and his orchestra will play. The proceeds of the 1049 White Whirl will be given .to Riley Hospital and will help to install oxygen systems by each patient's bed. In.former years the White Whirl profits have given to the National Foundation of Infantile Paral: ysis, but this year the sub debs and squires voted tq support a “local project. igh £8 » THE CHARITY ball is just one of the many activities sponsored by the teen-agers. Under the direction of Mrs,

Della May Hartley and Pa

Tuttle «+ . sub debs plan White Whirl for Jan. 18.

Margaret R. Bond and her assistant, Miss Bobble Jo Jacobs, the sub debs and squires play club dances, hay rides, radio programs and wiener roasts. They also sponsor the Cinderella Ball in the spring, publish a paper for teeners, the Sub Debian, and donate to The Times’ Clothe-A-Child Fund at Christmas.

” o » THE FEDERATION was organized in May, 1939. Ayres’ is the sponsor and the 570 clubs are registered in the Hi-De-Hole Room in Ayres’ with Mrs. Bond. An official sub deb or squire club is eligible "to participate in the events sponsored by the federation. Teen-age members of the organization model clothes, work on the Sub Debian, appear on

the Tederation's “monthly “pro

grams and serve as ushers at the meetings. Carolyn Griener is president. Other officers are Eddie Davis, vice president, and Nancy Snyder, secretary.

But if you have a date and no definite destination, what then? Naturally, you want to watch the new year in, in style. But you have to watch your step, too. One danger for teeners is getting mixed up with a razzledazzle older crowd or a mess of strangers. You won't enjoy it. The oldsters may resent your presence—and show it. Or they'll drag you into their dopo Either way, it's plenty

The architect suggested that the exterior ‘finish be of natural wood or composition shingles, although it would look equally attractive if. constructed of horizontal wood siding, brick veneer or cinder blocks. The front entrance has an overhanging roof which affords protection from the weather, and on both sides of this roof are trellises which add a pleasant decorative touch. You enter the front door into a vestibule which contains a ‘large coat closet with a sliding door. The kitchen has a closet for the storage of brooms and cleaning material, room for refrigerator and range withs sink and drain boards in between. There is ample room in this kitchen for a snack bar if so:desired, and there is plenty of space between the kitchen and living room for table, and six chairs.
