Twp. High School Studies Scored
The Indiana School Study Commission reported today that because of limited programs in the state’s smaller high schdols, only 13 per cent of the 1947 graduates from township high schools entered college.
This compared with 16 per cent the Study Commission said. - “With limited curricelum offerings in many of the small town-ship-schools, teachers are giving the traditional academic subjects | to all pupils regardless of their | aptitudes and vocational plans,” }
said the report.
Offer 18 Credits “In many cases this is coupled
{with the fact that teachers’ are
assigned classes in which they! have inadequate preparation.” The commission said that many | of the small schools offer only the
necessary 16 units of credit needted
for— graduation from-—high: school. | “In schools. with such limited | offering of subjects, all pupils]
“imust take éxactly the same pro-| gram for the four years,” it said.|
“The larger high schools, with
