PAGE 22 SMALL HOMES—
THIS IS A small two bedroom semi-ranch style home that will appeal to many people. It could very easily be considered an expandable house if, at a later date, one or more bedrooms were needed. This could be accomplished by extending the home on the side where the two bedroom closets are into two more bedrooms directly next to the two present bedrooms. If this were done, new closets could be built for the first bedrooms in the wall between the old and the new bedrooms, This house has heen designed to be built of cinder or cement ‘block, but would look equally attractive with brick or wood siding. You enter directly into a vestibule with a large closet at one end. To your right is a large living room, with a natural fireplace in one end and a large. picture window in the front. Built-in bookshelves are suggested on both sides of the fireplace, and there is ample room for furniture placement along the walls. = ” » THIS HOME has a separate dining room which should appeal to those many families who still believe there should be a separate room for dining purposes. You go directly from the dining room or living room into the kitchen, which would save A great many steps for the housewife in answering either the front or back doorbells.

This makes it convenient for guests to use the bathroom. The two bedrooms are large and both have cross ventilation. Both have storage wall closets with sliding doors and there is a linen closet directly outside the bathroom.

and this part of the house provides ample space for a modern laundry, recreation room and heater room. The garage is attached, and one of the advantages of this home is that it could go either way on the lot. The way the house is shown here it should probably be built on a 65 foot lot, but if the garage faced the street, it could be built on a 50 foot lot with a turn going into the garage,

Men and Women—
Romance Can Strike at Any Age
By ERNEST E. BLAU ULIET WAS ABOUT 14, I believe, when she and Romeo had their most famous of all love affairs. And to this day, believe it or not, this child receives hundreds of letters each year at her tomb, from love-sick girls— addressed to Juliet Capulet, Verona, Italy. But if romance starts young in life, it also seems to be taking over a lot of men and women who would probably get an attack of rheumatiz if they played a mandolin outdoors at night or listened to one on a balcony.

FOR INSTANCE, 1 see where an 84-year-old man recently returned from Ireland, after spending two months there looking for a bride. But the Irish girls didn’t suit him so he's continuing the search back here. And I note that a Pennsylvania woman, 82, and a man, 81, have just gotten married and have taken a horse and buggy honeymoon. These are fortunate people, indeed, who are able to recover some of the affection that youth gives and takes 80 freely.

Milady Adds Ankle-Length Dancing Skirt
By BARBARA BUNDSCHU United Press Staff Correspondent NEW YORK, Nov. 26 — The
ankle-length dancing skirt has (added a new kind of garment to’ the lady’s wardrobe.
The little black—or red or gold—dress with its daytime hemline and twilight dressiness will be worn about as often as ever in the night clubs, country clubs and ballrooms. And the floor-length gown, sometimes with its hem hiked up to the instep in front, is still the gown for the gala ball. : The in-between dress, hemmed at the ankle or slightly above, has found a niche of its own. It's a splendid compromise for the hostess who has to meet the pitfalls of her own kitchen between {courses or cocktails. Guests Shouldn’t Be Exposed to Germs
By RUTH MILLETT / NEA Staff Writer
IF “STAY AT HOME with a cold” were a definite rule of etiquet instead of just a health
After all, more people break health rules than eat with their knives or otherwise defy the rules of etiquet. As it is now, a guest will come to a party and between "a cough and a sneeze explain to anyone who cares to listen how she really should be home in bed, but she just didn’t feel she could let her hostess down at the last minute, Other guests must accept her graciously, expose themselves to her germs and take home
» = » THAT wouldn't happen if “cold spreader” was frowned upon socially, and “stay at home with a cold” was a real and definite rule of etiquet. After all, why shouldn't it be considered really bad manners to go to a party with a cold? The guest with a cold is cere |
