Local Deaths— ; Hunting Victim Rites Scheduled Millard Ratliff Dies’ of Wounds

Services for Millard Ratliff, bakery worker killed yesterday

in a hunting accident, will be held

at 2 p. m. Saturday in Tobin funeral home. New Crown Cemetery. The 17-year-old youth died aft-

chest. The gun accidentally went off as young Ratliff was climbing through a fence near Rawls|, Ave. and Shortridge Rd., east of the city. He was accompanied by Joseph Hodge, 44, of 808 8, State Ave, and Clyde Trammell, 18, of 1625 Brier Pl, who flagged a passing motorist and rushed Mr. Ratliff to a physician in an attempt to save his life. . The youth, a graduate of Manual High School, had been employed by the Kroger Grocery Co. baking department. He lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Owen, 616 Lexington Ave. Surviving, besides ‘the grandmother, are his mother, Mrs. Ruth Hurley; a stepfather, George R. Hurley; two brothers, Milton and Eldon Ratliff, and a stepbrother, Marshall Hurley all] of Indianapolis.

Mrs. Julia Lang Rites Saturday

Mrs. Julia B. Lang, an early West Side resident who died yesterday in her home, 1324 Sharon Ave., will be buried tomorrow in Crown Hill. Services for Mrs. Lang, who was 94, will be held at 2 p. m. in Conkle’s Funeral Home. | Born in Louisville, Ky., she came to Indianapolis at the time of her marriage to the late Louis Lang. They were one of the first families to settle in the vicinity of U. 8 52 in the West Side. They lived there a number of years before building a home on Sharon Ave. Mrs. Lang was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Ladies Ald Society of the church and the In-| dianapolis Growers Club.

She is survived by a son, Samuel J. Lang, one grandson and one great-grandson, all of Indianapolis.

Mrs. Brady Gibson

Services for Mrs. Bessie Gibson, 1210 N, West 8t., who died Tuesday in General Hospital, will be held at 2:30 p. m. in Jacobs Brothers’ West Side Chapel. Burial will be in New Crown.

Dies in Columbus, O. Joseph B. Etchison, former Indianapolis union official who died

|Tuesday in his home in Columbus,

0., will be buried Saturday in Crown Hill. Services for Mr. Etchison, who was 83, will be held at 2 p. m. in Grinsteiner’s Funeral Home. Mr. Etchison became a member of Local 120 of the International Hod Carriers, Builders and Common Laborers Union of America in 1899. He moved up to the post of business agent for the union here, and finally became a fourth vice president. A native of Madison, he lived in Indianapolis 15 years, and moved to Columbus 12 years ago.
