Becomes a Partner Mr. Kirkwood took a position with Bliss, Swain & Co., in the State Life building as department manager and buyer in 1901. When Mr. Bliss died iin 1910 and the store was purchased by the Schloss Brothers, be became 2a third member of the corporation. He retired in 1926. An ardent Republican, he long served his party in various capaci- | ties, such as ward chairman, precinct committeeman and in many other ways. He was appointed to the post of auditor of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, July 1, 1941, Headed Marion Club President of the Marion Club during its most active period, 1901 to 1902, Mr. Kirkwood was also a member of the Columbia Club.
