DO YOU know Mr. Muzzy? Just

why Mr. Muzzy continues to play

bridge at all, nobody knows. He He forgets to! Sometimes he for-

leads out of turn, count trumps. gets what trumps are. At any moment he is likely to go set 1100 points when he should go down only one. Everybody knows Mr. Muzzy and everybody has had him for a partner at one time or another. On today’s hand he was the] partner of Mr. Dale, the old-timer who knows all the angles. Dale figured from the bidding ost the opponents had a sure game. He also figured that he could sacrifice. at four spades for a| maximum loss of 300 points. He| knew that going set only 300 points when his opponents could make game would represent a nice saving to his side. "2 ns 2 HAD HE bid four spades, East and West would have to be care-

ful not to cash their two top diamonds prematurely. so the hand would be down only one, as South could toss a losing}

club on dummy’s jack of dia-|

monds. Even with perfect defense the hand would be down only two at four spades. Why didn’t Mr. Dale make this sacrifice bid? The answer fs easy. He wanted to get the rubber over. He wanted a new partner. Let's take a page from Mr. Dale’s book. When playing with a weak partner, the odds are against you on every hand. You want to play as few hands as possible with the odds against you. Send your questions .on Bridge to Easley Blackwood, The Indianapolis Times, Indian~ apolis 9.

Pladtic baby's bottle is put together on frame (above), collapses as he drinks (right).

By KAY SHERWOOD NEA Staff Writer DESIGNED to make baby's routine a life of Reilly are new zinventions and devices which "also promise to ease his mom's burden of infant care. Designed to simplify her task of feeding His Nibs, for example, are new collapsible and disposable plastic nursing bottles. These bottle are pre-sterilized, transparent and pliable plastic - shells which come in rolls of 65 or 100. Each holds from four to eight ounces. Bottles are snipped off the roll as needed ‘and, after use, are discarded. In the nursery kit of “bottle rolls” are two three-bottle racks for organizing a day's supply of formulafilled bottles; special nipples and ring attachments and six plastic caps to keep a bottle leakproof and to protect the sterilized nipples during storage.

s = ” THESE bottles are unbreakable and can be instantly heated under a hot-water tap which offers an extra added attraction to the traveling mother. Because the bottle collapses as

baby drinks up, there is less likelihood of his swallowing gulps of air. To keep baby’s freshly- Jaupe dered booties safe from shrinking or stretching while they dry is the purpose of new rigid plastic drying frames. These frames are molded to conform to the size of ‘a bootie and insure a like-new fit after washing. A hook for hanging up frames on a clothesline and ridges along the sides to permit circulation of air promise speedier drying. ” oN. 8 MODERN Baby Buntings can be wrapped up snug and warm this winter with new satin comforters, stuffed with glass fiber for feather-weight insulation that keep baby’s motions un. hampered. Conventional wool blankets for infants make news by appearing in such new-look colors as aqua and yellow. Also making their nursery debut are new vinylite plastic bath tubs for baby which won't crack, peel or mildew or lose shape as His Nibs gains weight.

Rude Manners

Never Are

Justifiable

By JEAN THE RULES of etiquette are legion. Yes, indeed! Many of them are relatively unimportant; some are basic and vital. When you slip up on a fine point” of social behavior, folks will generally overlook your faux-pas. But not so with out-and-out rudeness, People will notice and remember crude remarks and boorish conduct. Using the wrong fork or flubbing an introduction is an accident — embarrassing, perhaps, but harmless. An impudent retort or an inconsiderate act is a serious blunder, a blunder that embarrasses and hurts others.

n » » PERHAPS your victim will forgive you. (Your ever-loving Pop and Mom certainly will.) But curious bystanders who see and hear you! They'll hold it against you. Don't think they won't! Yes, discourtesy puts you in wrong with your public. And you can't get away with two sets of manners, either. One | set for the family, another for the public? Uh-uh, it won't work. Habitual rudeness will betray you when you least expect it. The small formalities of etiquette are useful. They give confidence; they smooth your social path. But deep - down courtesy is part of your character. It's a state of mind, an enduring attitude, the real you.
