ASK MRS. MANNERS— “‘Husband Ignores My Six-Year-Old Son’
DEAR MRS. MANNERS:
MY HUSBAND doesn’t pay any attention at all to the baby I had before my marriage. He isn’t mean to the child, who is 6, but just acts as if he isn’t around.
I pay all of my salary out for expenses, but when I ask him for money he asks what I do with mine. He spends his money just as he pleases. He also goes to restaurants and places I don’t want him to go. It seems as if he wants to do something to aggravate me. He lies terribly when I find out. YOUR READER. Maybe you're expecting your husband to show affection toward your son in YOUR way of showing affection, just like you expect him to go places that YOU choose. you're so anxious he love you and. your son that you're trying to force him into it—and he feels you're bossy. Give him a chance to love you both—his way—give him a chance to breathe, Don’t smother him with attentions and directions! He evidently loved You when he married you. He still will if you don’t demand that he does and if you don’t keep checking up on him. He likes to have a hand in plamming your evenings together. He likes a wife who is good company and attractive.
Wants Information on Baptism WHERE CAN I have my son baptized in a non-denominational
church? What questions are asked the parents, and is there a charge? We aren't Hoosiers. WORRIED M.A.P. Dr. Howard J. Baumgartel, executive secretary of the
Church Federation (RI. 9506), could help you, I'm sure.
Seeks Company of Widows I GET VERY lonesome for a lady to correspond with and keep company with but I don’t want the beer joint type. My wife died 18 months ago and I go ahead and work as usual and stay in nights to take care of my children. I am trying to bring them up right. I take them to Sunday school and church. Can you give me widows’ addresses? G.L.S. I’m sorry, but I can’t supply names. Take your children to some social affairs at your church. You may spot your own widow.
How to Get Old Age Pension WILL YOU tell me how to apply for old age pension? © MRS. W.W.W,, OUT-OF-TOWN. Contaet your county welfare organization.
16-Year-Old Girl Wants Job
WHERE CAN a 16-year-old girl get a respectable job after school? I really need a job. I think the girls of today would keep out of trouble if they were more careful about selecting jobs because jobs have effects on you and their environment isn’t too good some places. TECHITE PATTI File your name at the Indiana Employment Service, 257 W. Washington St., advertise and check sitter services. Regarding that other question you asked about privately, several stores carry sizes up to 46.
Puzzled Over Boy . . . and Gossip
THE BOYS and girls say the boy I like very much says sometimes he likes me and sometimes he doesn’t. A boy with a bad reputation who likes me says I'm silly to like this other boy. Is he right? The one I like asks me if I'm going to the show and where I'll sit, but I never see him. SHORTY, CITY.
You aren't silly to like him, Shorty, but you'd be silly to
tie yourself down by liking him too much when he doesn’t even bother to find you at the movie.
C:ves Complete Address of Pope % WOULD YOU give me the complete address of the Pope and tell me the postage that is required? ¥., CITY. His address is: Pope Pius XII, Vatican City. Air mall is 15 cents per half ounce and general delivery, 5 cents an ounce.

Protestants to Meet Here To Map Advance Program
Methodist Bishop of New York Will Keynote
Mission Session Tuesday in Cadle Tabernacle
By EMMA RIVERS MILNER, Times Church Editor "Thirteen major Protestant denominations will unite for a mass meeting to discuss the Advance in Foreign Missions drive Tuesday’ at 7345 p. m. in Cadle Tabernacle.
meetings, in their own churches, either before or after the united session in Cadle. The city will be host to bishops, | natives of Africa, China and India; to Miss Helen Kenyon of New York, the first woman moderator of the Congregational Christian Church; heads of denominational mission boards, and other specialists in the area of overseas religious work. Methodist Bishop G. Bromley Oxnam of New York, American president of the World Council of Churches, will speak 30 minutes at the mass meeting. Brief talks will be given by Chief Albert J. Luthuli of Umvoti, Natal, Africa, a board executive of the Congregational Christian Church, and Mrs. Helen Scott Sailsbury, former missionary -to India and a representative of the Foreign Missions Board, Presbyterian Church U.S. A. Explain Vast Program The purpose of the interdenominational mass meeting is to explain the vast program of financial and spiritual aid to foreign missions to be sponsored by the Foreign Missions Conference of North America. The separate denominational meetings will strive to implement the plans outlined at the mass meeting. Similar sessions to those held here are being conducted under the auspices of the: Foreign Missions Conference throughout the country. The decision to hold them was made at an October meeting in October in Columbus, 0. The Foreign Missions Confer-|§ ence is the co-ordinating body for overseas religious work in which the major Protestant denominations co-operate. The Conference enables the separate denominations to avoid overlapping and duplication of effort in the foreign mission field. The usual needs and confusion growing out of the war make necessary a re-study and revamping of missionary problems, officials report. Denominations Listed The 13 denominations which will hold meetings in Indianapolis are: the Baptist, Congregational Christian, Church of the Brethren, |§ Disciples of Christ, Episcopal,|; Friends, United Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian U. 8. A,, United Presbyterian, Evangelical United Brethren, Evangelical and Reformed, and Moravian Churches. Churchwomen of the city will give an interdenominational dinner Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:15/3 P p. m. in Hollenbeck Hall of the YWCA. Mrs. Saulsbury wil speak.

Prison Trustee Demands Apology
Assails IU Professor For Talk on Boards
A member of the state prison board of trustees today demanded an ‘“apology” from Prof. Ben Meeker of Indiana University for an attack on penal institution parole boards. Leo T. Mulva of Whiting, Democratic member of the board at the prison, accused the professor, head of the university's division of social science, of ‘hitting below the belt” in a recent speech in| Indianapolis. Mr. Meeker, recommending a four-point reform of the state's parole system, referred to the boards which now administer the bulk of paroles as “chicken dinner” boards. He told a conference of social workers last week these boards “meet ‘once a month, talk with the warden, look through a stack of parole papers, eat a chicken dinner and 80 home.” Refers to ‘Contest’ He referred to a “contest for authority” between the boards of the three penal institutions in the state and the Governor's commission on clemency, of which Mr. Mulva also is a member. Mr. Mulva wrote that the professor’s’ speech ‘‘demonstrated your complete ignorance of the parole procedure at Indiana state prison.” The board meets twice a month, he said, and sometimes oftener. He told Mr. Meeker the members spend “hours. of study” on case histories. Mr. Mulva said he relied entirely on newspaper accounts of the speech because Prof. Meeker “resorted to the vicious method of publicly attacking individuals at a time and place when they were not present and given an opportunity to refute the statements in person.”
USES TRANSPORTATION The pertoleum transportation
is .en route home today determined to urge Hoosier colleagues to descend on Washington en masse and give their views to the Capehart committee on the bas-ing-point price system. He is Robert P. Smith, president of the Hoosier Crown Corp,
caps. Appearing at the Senate hearings being conducted under the subcommittee chairmanship nf Sen. Homer E. Capehart (R. Ind.), Mr. Smith told of the plight his factory faces in buying steel f. 0. b, and selling his finished product under the basing point system. His plant now employs 60, should employ 100, but will not be employing anyone if this state of things continues he told the committeemen. “There should be one rule for all business, large and small, whether it is f. 0. b. or basing point,” Mr. Smith said. He outlined the Federal Trade Commission case against his industry which found standardization and basing point practices illegal. It now is pending appeal. Meanwhile the basing point system was outlawed for cement by the Supreme Court and thé sigel industry dropped it also, he explained. “But we continue to use the basing point system for selling, while we must buy steel f. 0. b.,” Mr. Smith pointed out. “I want Congress to act to clean up such a mess.’ The hearings will continue next Tuesday. Mr. Smith said he hopes to interest the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce in his proposal to have a horde of Hoosier manufacturers come here to tell their story in person.
Act to Extradite Denver Suspect
DENVER, Nov. 13 (UP)—Indiana authorities prepared today to extradite Robert C. Christen, 36, Denver grocer, to Ft. Wayne, Ind., for trial in the three-year-old murder of Mrs, Dorothea Howard.
