Approximately 200 laymen and ministers of five states will
attend the meeting of the Synod!
of the Province of the Midwest Protestant Church Nov. 15 and 16 in Christ Episcopal Church. The work of the . church abroad. Simultaneously 13 other denominations' will be holding similar] Indianapolis sessions on missions. On the night of the 16th all! 14 will come together for a mass meeting in Cadle ' Tabernacle when Methodist Bishop G. Brom-| ley Oxnam of New York and| others will speak. The mass session will be sponsored by the! Foreign Missions Conference of North America.
From 13 Dioceses ‘The Episcopal sessions will include . representatives of 13! dioceses in five states—Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and, Ohio. The 350,000 Episcopalians of this area give $10 million! every year for the support of! their local parishes and missions overseas, officials of the church report. The Rt. Rev. Benjamin F. P. Ivins, bishop of Milwaukee, synod president, will preside over the Episcopal meeting here. The Women's Auxiliary of the fifth province will meet simultaneously with the syned with Mrs. Rollin T, Chamberlin of Chicago, auxiliary president, presiding. The missionary service at 8 p. m. on Monday, Nov. 15, will highlight the two-day program. Clerical deputies in vestments will form a choir and sing for the service. Speakers will include the Very Rev. Edward R. Welles, dean of St. Paul's Cathedral, Buffalo; and the Rt. Rev. Bravid W. Harris, D.D., bishop of the missionary district of Liberia, West Africa.
Dinner on Monday The Monday night session will be preceded by a 2 p.m. address by Bishop Ivins and a dinner for synod delegates at 6:30 p.m. Holy Communion will open Tuesday’s meetings at 7:30 a.m. At the joint session of the synod and auxiliary at 10 a.m. addresses will be given by the Rev. Harwood Sturtevant, D.D., bishop Wis., on “The Assembly of the World Council of Churches;” and the
Rt. Rev. Lewis Bliss Whittemore,
D. D., bishop of Western Michigan. Bishop Whittemore's subject will be: “Work of the National Council” (emphasizing Christian education).
