Blood Disease an Unsolved Problem
i By EDWIN P. JORDAN, M.D. © ONE OF THE most difficult unsolved problems of medicine is a disease known as leukemia of !whieh there are several kinds. i Leukemia is a disease of the {blood and blood-forming organs. Like cancer, which it resembles in some respects, the cause is s0 j far unknown. Although there are several va- 2 rieties of leukemia, the important thing to the patient is whether | 4
{progressive or chronic and siowly 3 progressive. : ” ' { In both cases, the white blood ks {cells in the blood are abnormal £ g®N {and usually increased in numbers. The numbers of red cells are gendecreased producing an anenia. A ! Frequently, too, the spleen. which lies in the upper left portion of the abdomen, is enlarged, and changes are found in the bone marrow. ” n ” IN THE rapidly progressive types of leukemia, there is sometimes nothing much that can be done to slow down the pe a of the disease. In many cases, however, the disease passes into the chronic stage without any treatment at all, or perhaps aided by the treatment attempted.

Men Again Notice Women's Clothes
By RUTH MILLETT NEA Staff Writer 4 “WOMENS CLOTHES are prettier right now than they've been in a long, long time.” The man who made that remark made as much fun of the. ''new look” when it was new as did most men. He was just as then as any other male about the silliness of womer in following the fickle fad of fashion. But
Ruth Millett now that he is thoroughly used to the “new look" it looks good to him.
All of which goes to show that women aren't so dumb after all in going in for sudden fashion changes.
Such changes in styles not
i only give the women a lift, they
make men more clothes conscious, too. And even though they rebel at first at sudden changes in women’s styles, they soon get used to them and
