By United Press The Springfield Indians helped tighten the race in the Eastern half of the American Hockey League today after their hardfought victory over Washington in the only game played last night. The Indians. who now are only four points behind front-running Providence. squeezed past Washington's Lions, 4 to 3, at Uline Arena, Washington. It was an even affair for two periods with each side scoring twice, but the Indians had cnough to crash through the Lion defenses for two scores and victory in the third period. Leo Curick led off the scoring parade with a Springfield goal at 6:45 of the first period. Pat Wilson of the Lions retaliated just before the period ended.
