Filipinos Start i Recruiting Navy

Times Foreign Service MANILA, R. I, Oct. 20--The Philippines is in the midst of a “pre-navy” campaign. ’ This young republic, twice liberated in modern times with the U. 8. Navy in a star role, has issued a call for 80 additional officers and 700 enlisted men for the Philippine Naval Patrol,. This patrol is the nucleus of the republic's future navy. Recruits—who must be between 21 and 30—are needed “in anticipation of an increase in personnel that may be authorized Nov, 1.” They will first train as boots at Cavite anll subsequently get their Sea legs aboard regular patrol boats or U8. Navy vessels.

Jose Andrada, Annapolis graduate who alone bears the title of commodore in the Philippines, commands the patrol. .
