State Service ‘ BLOOMINGTON, Oct. 20—Dr.} Linus Pauling, president-elect of the Southern Indiana Section of the American Chemical Society, will speak at 8 p. m, today at a

meeting of the section at Indiana|

University. Dr, Pauling, who will he the first speaker following the re-

section, will discuss the “Valence and Structure of Metals.” Officers of the new Southern Indiana section are Dr. Ernest E. Campaigne and Dr. F.C. Schmidt, chairman and chairman-elect of the society, both of the IU chemistry dpeartment: Miss Avis Rector, Bloomington, secretary, and Dr. I. C. Gunsalus of the IU bacteriology department, treasurer, Dr. F, T. Gucker of the university’s chemistry department was elected to the soclety’s national council, with Dr.. L. L. Merritt, of the same department, as alternate.
