Michael Ginsburg, former special consultant to the U. 8. State Department. Dr. Ginsburg arrived at the Bloomington campus last year as professor of Russian literature and civilization. Former Program Enlarged Courses in Russian language, literature, and political and social development given last year have been expanded this semester into a larger program. The new program includes an intermediate Russian language course, scientific Russian designed for students specializing in physlical sciences, conversational Russian, an intensive reading course and a general academic survey of | the Soviet Union. The survey course is divided into studies of Soviet intérnal polcy the first semester and foreign policy the second semester. | Dr. Ginsburg indicated that courses in other Slavic languages including Polish, Czech and Serbian will be added to the program gradually. He will be assisted by Mrs, Kenneth Lane, instructor; who joined the Indiand faculty from the University of California.

The association met today to plan a national, “hospitality year,” to begin in 1949, President J. Willard Marrott, Washington, said the new program would tell the public that the 90,000 member restaurants were ready to serve them “hospitably, and at prices to fit every purse.”

Maps. of each continent will show average temperatures, precipitation and daily variations in temperature. Dr. Samuel Van Valkenburg, director of the school, estimates that the maps will be completed within two years.
