Our Lovely Lady of Tomorrow
Photo by Lloyd B. Walton, Time: Staff Photographer. HESE ARE exciting days for Andra Jean Crawford. Last week she went with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. John A. Crawford, 920 E. 40th St., to Lake James and Sunday she will be 3 years old. It was Andra's first experience with a big lake and motor boats, though she calls all the ducks and geese at Lake Sullivan her personal pets. She is also fond of the baby alligator at the Indianapolis fish hatcheries. At home the blond miss builds cities in her sand pile and colors her drawing books and enjoys going to the nursery school of the North Methodist Church.—By MARJORIE TURK.

JE j>% ple could go and ari learn the background and history of the Hudson River Valley. There still are many families
living on the banks of the Hud-|
son who have ties reaching far back to the earliest days of New York state. But many new people are coming in and the banks of the river no longer belong to the descendants of the original settlers. I think we ought therefore let the newcomers know enough about the past so they will want to cherish this heritage and make it available to future generations. The scenig ‘beauty of the river should not be spoiled by new factories. Factories must be built, but the builders should take ‘into account the preservation of the river's beauty. If possible, historic houses should be restored, and ..not destroyed. » - .
° I AM sure that everyone read "with great regret of Justice Hughes’ death. He lived a long life, full of honors and good works, and one can only be grateful that we have had a citizen of such fine qualities so long in our midst.
