second - division Yankees have 20 games to play with top teams and 27 with the)

laggards. TWO: Cleveland has a definite schedule advantage which finds them playing 27 games at home| and 18 away. What is more they have only five games with first] division teams after Sept. 8. THREE: They stand a better than even chance in the games they play against the Athletics, Red Sox and Yankees, for they have won 29 and lost 24 against them thus far for a percentage of .547. Boston at the same time

"Sweep 4-Game Series Yesterday, Cleveland made hay again against the sad sack White Sox, sweeping its four-game series with them by winning 6-to-2 and 8-to-0 decisions behind Bob Feller and Bob Lemon. Feller was no ball of fire in winning the opener, as he allowed 11 hits, but he did pitch his first complete game in five starts and chalked up his 12th victory. Lemon, his apparent successor as Cleveland's glamour boy, won his 16th game and his seventh shutout in the nightcap, scattering seven hits: The Athletics, rebounding from two straight defeats, topped the Yankees twice by 5-to-3 margins, winning thé opener with four singles in a three-run. 10th inning by Sam Chapman, Ferris Fain, Hank Majeski and Elmer Vilo.
