Health officials reported today that venereal diseases dropped off in Indiana during the past year. Dr. Carl C. Kuehn, director of the state Board of Health's 'Division of Venereal Disease Control, said the cases reported de‘creased by 2000 during the 194748 year. He made the report to & ve nereal disease conference ats tended by health officers and nurses from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky at the Indiana University Medical Center, Dr. Kuehn said a total of 8333 cases were reported. He said there. were 1500 less cases of syphilis reported and a decrease of some 500 gonorrhea cases. “But the battle is far from won,” he said.

Mr, Winks, a resident here for the past 30 years, died Tuesday. He resided in the Marott Hotel and had been in the food brokerage business for the past 10 years. He was 54
