Sailors Get Stage Roles

Navy Will Assist

In ‘Carmen’ Show For the third time within a year, the Navy will assist Fabien Sevitzky’s musical productions— this time with 35 volunteers for silent roles in “Carmen.” From the Indianapolis Brigade, U. 8. Naval Reserve, the sailors will serve as soldiers, matadors and picadors in the Butler Bowl production of Bizet's opera Aug. 4 and 8. In last summer's Bowl presentation of “Aida,” 20 volunteers from the Indianapolis Naval Armory* Capt. F. F. Knachel commanding, helped fill the ranks of “supers.” Thirty sailors assisted in the Indianapolis Symphony’s Constitution Day concert last Septemper, when Gen. Mark A. Clark was guest speaker. Listed for “Carmen” USNR participants in “Carmen” will include: Dale Johnson, Jack Edwards, Robert Baramore, Ralph Fry, James Burns, John Henderson, Harry Hollingsworth, John J. Gummer, Lowell F. Mate Hates ‘Boogie,’

Bride Tries Suicide CHICAGO, July 29 (UP)—Mrs. Alice Thomas, 19-year-old bride of five weeks, told police today she tried to commit suicide be cause her husband didn't like boogie-woogie music. She said her husband, Robert, 29, preferred the classics. She had fled “0 her parents’ home, where police rescued her before open gas jets took effect.
