By JEAN ALMOST everyone goes traveling in summer. Maybe it's just a jaunt to the country for the day. It could be a crosscontinental trip, or anything in between. Will you be going by car, or by train? For summer drivers, motoring manners are “as usual”’—only more so! Crowded highways make safe and considerafé driving essential. Monkeyshines in cars— racing, horn-blowing, shrieking and the rest—are the height of unsafe, inconsiderate behavior.

ance. At a roadside stand or a rural tourist camp, casual clothes may be all right. In a city, town or resort restaurant, no! The best places won't admit a boy in shirt-sleeves or a girl in shorts. So save yourself embarrassment. The public can judge you only by externals. Dress appropriately and with care.

Bridge— To Win Hand Trap Queen Of Opponent
America’s Card Authority THE SOUTH will be well represented at the summer session of the national champfonships tournament, which starts this week-end in Chi-
cago. : The Memphis delegation will be headed by M. A. Lightman,

Your White Gloves

age
RADEMARK of a woman's impeccable grooming is the white gloves she wears to punctuate her costume with touches of freshness. To make sure that your gloves are as spotless as a diplomat’s, wash wisely. White suede, doeskin and other washable leathers need not look like 10-fingered stalactites after they're dunked. American manufacturers say leather gloves can be washed as easily as fabric if you'll use a liquid glove shampoo which replenishes softening oils in leather. Doeskin and chamois should be washed in the hand: other leathers should be be slipped on the hand for washing. To remove embedded sofl, pour a few drops of undiluted glove shampoo on the stubborn spot (top center), then swish glove up and down in more suds. After washing, blow into glove to separate fingers (top right) and stuff these with absorbent tissues for speedy drying. If unstitched edges of cuffs have been tugged out of shape, snip with scissors (bottom right).

» » » NOW THE last trump was played from dummy and again East refused to go up with the queen; so Lightman finessed the nine-spot, which held. It now looked as if there was no way to pick up the queen. However, Lightman led the
