Red Sox Beat Yanks The predictors were finding comfort in one fact, however— the Boston Red Sox at last seemed to be shaping up to make a battle for the pennant. Yesterday they whipped the defending New York Yankees, 7 to 3, to even the “crucial” series between the two clubs. Jack Kramer of the Red Sox held the Yankees to seven hits to gain his seventh victory on the mound, while Shortstop Vern Stephens batted in five runs. The loser was Vic Raschi, who suffered his second defeat against nine wins. The defeat dropped
