Boudreau had a 164-vote edge over Stan Musial of the St. Louis Cardinals as fans voted for lineups in the 15th annual All-Star! game in St. Louis, June 13. The Cleveland star had 7218 votes, to 7054 for Musial. Boston Red Sox Slugger Ted Williams was third with 6952, and last year’s highest individual votegetter, Joe DiMaggio of the Yankees, trailed with 6883. Walker Cooper of the Giants, -lalthough sidelined with injuries, replaced the Dodgers’ Bruce Edwards in first place among National League catchers.

Dick Frazier of Muncie, last night was the “hot-shot” of the hot-rods, winning three events at the West 16th street midget track. Frazier won the first 10 lap event in 3.01.60. The second 10 lap event was taken by Dick Rathman. Frazier then won the 6 lap handicap dash, an event limited to the four fastest cars. Dick had a little trouble in this one when he rode up over the wheel of Jim Morrison's car and had to drop back to last place. But he came back to win in 1.44.80. Dick Rathman got the jump on Frazier at the start of the 25-lap feature event and led the field for. two laps before found an opening and mo into the lead. He won in 7.19.30 with Rathman finishing second, and Jim Morrison third.
