: Arigry Resident Fires At Truck in Backyard
One of three young men who parked their car at a wrong address while looking. for friends was shot by an angry resident early today. A search of Joe Anthony, 23, of 1337 Columbia Ave, who emerged from the alley, produced a pistol with a warm barrel. Charged with vagrancy and drunkenness, Anthony told police he fired the shots but was shooting at “nothing in particular.” William Bardwell, 28, of 506 W. 24th St., was shot in the arm by his wife, Nellie, as he attempted to break in the front door of their home.
Mrs. Bardwell said she fired the shots when she heard the door glass shatter. Both were held on vagrancy charges. Police Chase Suspect Speedy action by police in the investigation of a burglar alarm at 41 W. Ohio St. early today resulted in a two-block chase on foot as the suspected burglar fled patrolmen. A shot fired by Officer Russell Carmichael halted Roy Cullivan, 28, Vincennes, near the Traction Terminal Building. He was held on vagrancy charges for further investigation. 5 Two women reported to police last night that they were accosted by men in automobiles who tried to force them into the cars.
