QUESTION: What is dieumerol and is it good for coronary thrombosis? ¥ ANSWER: Dicumerol is a substance obtained from spoiled sweet clover which is used in medicine to delay the clotting of blood inside the body. CH It is being used in some cases to help prevent an attack of coronary thrombosis, as well as clotting in other blood vessels. It seems to help sometimes but doctors are still trying to study its valnue and uses.

OATMEAL REFRIGERATOR COOKIES

(For Friday luncheon) 14 c¢. margarine or shortening

% c. chopped malnuts or pecans 1% ec. moist raisins Cream the margarine or shortening. - Add the sugars in three

between each addition. Stire in the vanilla, then. .the egg. and beat until smooth and crermy. Sift the flour, measure and resift with. the salt and the soda Fold the flour mixture into the creamed mixture and still until smooth. Fold in the rolled oats, nuts and raisins until evenly distributed. Form the dough into one and one-half inch rolls. Roll up in waxed paper, lay on a piece of cardboard to keep straight. Chill in the refrigerator until very firm. Slice © one-eighth inch thick. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees F.) for 10 to 12 minutes or to golden brown. Makes 45 to.50 cookies.
