ARERR A on ASS Rr
Total tax payments made by your transit company during 1947, which . benefit the city of Indianapolis either directly or indirectly total nearly $383,000. , :
As indicated by the 1947. tax payment above, the approximately $18,500 paid to the city under the trackless trolley agreement was only a small part of that total.
In addition, the $11,373 paid for city bus licenses brought the total N : paid by your transit company directly to the city up to $29,794.89.
But that was still only the beginning. The company's 1947 tax bill also includéd payments totaling $353,084.34 for property taxes, gasoline taxes, gross income taxes and miscellaneous license and registration fees. Still another expenditure of more than $37,000 was made last year for spreading salt and abrasives on" slick city streets, for street repairs and for painting curbings at loading points. °
TAXES
As 8 good citizen of the communities it serves, your transit company has always willingly paid its designated share of the total tax burden, and has undertaken—on its own initiative~—to spend thousands of dollars annually for street maintenance to help prevent accidents.
