House for Summer If you happen to be a man or woman of great vision (and if so why aren't you running for President?) you are probably worrying about how hot it is going to be in two or three months. Now if you happen to be a man or woman of

vision and action you will go out and take the necessary steps to make your house comfortably cool no matter what the outside temperature may be.

Considerable progress has been made in the field of house air conditioning and units can be had to take care of one room or the entire house. We might point out, however, that to get one of these units will take more than just 10 box tops. Among the other ways to keep a house cool is to have venetian blinds on windows so that the air can come in and out but the sun can't. Window shades pulled down during the day will also keep out a good deal of heat. Your best bet, short of collecting the required number of box tops for an air conditioning outfit, is to insulate the attic roof and install ventilators at each end of the attic as near the roof peak as possible. After this you arrange to leave the outside basement door open and all doors between here and the attic. Now you get a nice through draft of air from basement to attic. If this doesn't make you happy, install

The clip is attached to a wall, say in the garage, and will take a good firm grip on the handle of the tool.

Stick a piece of wood in the ground, go off and leave it there for a few months or so and then dig it up. You may find nothing and then again you may find part of the wood, but chances are it will be in pretty sorry shape. What happened was that the wood went to feed a horde of hungry termites or some no account fungi. In any case, you are out of one piece of wood. This gets us to the question of how to preserve wood from termites and dry rot. Science and research tell us that painting wood is not a very satisfactory method of preservation because if any moisture does get to the wood, the paint will seal it from getting out. Termites, of course, work on the inside and won't be bothered by the film of paint on the outside. What you can do is treat the wood with a preservative that gets right in there among the wood fibers and gives them a taste that no self-respect-

These preservatives are best applied to the wood by a pressure system whereby the preservative is forced right into every nook and cranny.
