. 15th Triumph Rookie pitchers teamed with veteran fielders to give the Indians their 15th victory of the training season yesterday as the Tribe evened the score with Memhis. The regulars went all the way aided by the pitching of Bill Sweiger and Lee Howard. Sweiger allowed five hits in six innings, and Howard gave up only a double by Buck Behie, in three frames. Pete Castiglione made his first appearance of the season in an Indian uniform yesterday, replacing Ray Scott in the seventh inning. The slender shortstop chipped in a Texas League single in the ninth to drive in a ceuple of runs,
Nagy Returned Another addition to the pitching staff has been announced. Steve Nagy, who worked with the {Indians last season, is being sent back on option from the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was one of the mainstays of the Tribe through the early part of last season, but faded in mid-season, winning no games r July. : Hugh Mulcahy, Memphis twirl: er, limited the Redskins to only four hits in six innings after a pretty shaky start yesterday. Tom Saffell opened the game with a double to left, followed by Jack Cassini who was safe on an error by Fred Hancock. Saffell scored on a long fly by Ted Bead. Les Fleming walked, Cully Rikard singled and Cassini was scored as Charley Letchas forced Rikard at second. Mulcahy then put the brakes on ‘the Indians’ hitting and they didn't score again until the eighth when Les Eisenmann allowed a pair of runs. Hit With Ball 3 Ray Poole replaced Eisenmann in the ninth and proceeded to blow up what had been a pretty tight ball game. Howard led off the inning for the Tribe with a single and the next two fanned out, then the party was over for Poole and Memphis. Beard was hit with a pitched ball and Poole issued successive walks to Fleming, Rikard and Letchas forcing in two runs. E But Mangrum, riding high
Chicago, had the Indian sign on the rest.
“Sure I'm playing a good game,” said the slender lion of the links. “Right now, there's not a herve in my body.” Mangrum showed it yesterday when he breezed through nine holes in three under par, then ran into just about every kind of trouble in the book. Instead of blowing his advantage, he settled down to preserve it. He overcame two bogeys with birdies and shot himself out of trouble on three other holes to make them in par, Admits Bonus Mangrum frankly admitted that May, ring-master of the Tam O'Shanter antics, has guaranteed him handsome bonus money for winning the Masters, the National Open, or the PGA. He also is writing a book about golf and stands to bolster his income from that source. Mangrum, incidentally, holds the course record for one round of the Masters, having shot a 64 —a pair of 32's—in 1940. He finished second to Jimmy Demaret that year. : Derharet racked up his second Masters title last year but he got only a 73 yesterday in opening the defense of his title. The leading threats to Man-

Two Chicago owners and a West Coast operator are the lat. est to make double entries. y Joe Lencki of the Windy City has nominated four-cylinder and six-cylinder entries known as the Lencki Speedway Cocktail Specials. The six will be piloted by Mel Hansen of Los Angeles.
