Promoter Forrest McKinney's first professional mitt card of the year at the North Pennsylvania Street Armory Friday night neared completion with the signing of contracts today for two of the four-round preliminary bouts. Doyle Upchurch of Muncie signed to fight Torpedo Tinsley of Indianapolis and Gene Davis of Jeffersonville was matched with Art Arbuckle of Indianapolis. All four Scrappers are lightweights. Jimmy Chaney of Indianapolis * and “Wild Man” Martin of Charleston, W. Injured Race Driver In Fair Condition
Oren Lewis, 34, of 328 &. St. Joseph St., injured race driver, was reported in fair condition at the Methodist Hospital today, Lewis suffered back and Bead injuries Sunday afternoon the first event of a dirt race|P near Bloomington. Hig race car skidded and turned over twice after being hit in the rear. Last year at the Terre Haute midget track, Lewis turned over three times and skidded 204.feet upside down and suffered only a bruised shoulder.
