A total of 478 families suffered losses in the four counties, the tabulation showed. Demolished were 139 homes; 263 were badly damaged; 43 barns were destroyed; 275 other buildings were damaged; 56 business buildings, churches and utility properties were destroyed and 32 more damaged. Red Cross said several hundred volunteer workers will be needed in the four-county area to help clear off the wrecked farms.

—Police said they had reached ° the wreckage of a twin-engine bomber which crashed in a heavily wooded section west of the Wittenburgh Mountain range 20 miles west of here last night. The bodies of two of three men aboard the plane have been found, police said. A third is still missing. The plane, an Air Force B-25, carrying three men on a flight] from Westover Field, Mass. to Stewart Field, near here, crashed into a 3200-foot peak, police said. State police said they were leaving the wreckage scene temporarily to bring back stretchers and other equipment needed to complete the search.
