Councilmen Get Old Police Badges

City Councilmen will get used badges this year in another meas-ure-of the administration’s economy drive. Councilmen are always issued badges. No one knows particularly why or to what use the Councilmen put them. In the past it has cost the city approximately $10 per badge. This year, however, the Councilmen will be issued insignia made over from old police corporals badges. The gold-plated medalions of the police have been called in to be replaced with sil-ver-coated ones. The word “corporal” will be taken off and “Councilman” substituted. Members of the legislative body will put down a $3 deposit for the gadgets.
