He has been with the company since, except for two years in the Army during World War I. In World War II he served as a member of the Army Air Forces Civilian Aide Committee helping select officer personnel, and as a trustee of United Seamen's Service. He is a lifelong Republican, but doesn’t mention it unless asked.
