In -other seasons, the blouset was a pretty, cap-sieeved, boatnecked bit of silk. Many women preferred it to the dickey, or gilet, for its covered back and tiny sleeve.

This year, because suits will have tapered ‘shoulders, the blouset will be slightly padded in the shoulders, and the neckdine will be graced with a little Victorian collar. Take your cue from the manufacturers and make yours up in pastel rayon jerseys. Then you can stick them in your week-end bag and praise their non-crushable quality. Little, white stand-up collars, and collars with bib effects are expected to be popular neckwear this spring. Scarves will float along on their present wave of popularity. These will be available in kerchief size silk or chiffon squares, or in jumbo-size, hand-rolled, and vividly beautiful. The huge silks can Ye worn over your basic dresses, like a cocktail apron. There are going to be lots of new effects in scarf prints. Look for the handpainted versions which give a three-dimensional effect; the petit point prints, and the striking landscape designs. ” ~ .

- THE Gibson Girl look will prevail. There will be many skirt-and-blouse costumes, and 80 there will be need of belts. Varieties of these will be shown in fabrics like linen and tie silk. They will be wide enough to cover the meeting of skirt and

blouse, and the silks will ap-

In handbags, the shoulder strap style will be abundantly available; but box types for everyone from baby sister to grandma will be on the counters, and there will be a showing of soft, rounded bag silhouettes, also.

Women who vacationed in warm places during the winter ordered lighter hose shades. Manufacturers and buyers have taken it as an indication that women will put aside deeper shades of stockings when they wear pastel linens and cottons. Choose closed-toe sandals for your spring frock if it follows the softer mood. Rising straps, cutout and deep-veed shoe throatlines are the mode. And while the toe is almost invariably closed in spring and summer models, the heel ia > open.

No one who has used only an up-to-date household washer can realize what changes such appliances have brought about, Credit goes, too, to the ironer, of course. Nor should the new automatic indoor tumbler dryer be overlooked for an instant, say those who have discovered the virtues of this latest of all
