New Records Are Hits From Another Spring

Oldtime Tunes by Dorsey, Olsen, Ellington Te Be Reissued by RCA; Decca Adds Revivals

By DONN

The songs of this spring will be the hits of many another spring, | * judging from the growing “revival” trend. One of the best bits, of news to come from the wax makers is a pulletin from RCA Victor announcing that it would reissue three

all-time alltimers.

They include Tommy Dorsey's “I May Be Wrong (But I Think|}

You're Wonderful),” “Bye Bye Blackbird” as recorded by George Olsen, and Duke Ellington's “Ebony Rhapsody.” The couplings, which sound as good as the No. 1 sides, will be Dorsey’s recently recorded “Farewell to Arms”; old favorite Little Jack Little’s “Hold Me,” with the Olsen disc and “Saine” by the Hot Club of France paired . with “Ebony.” Even the new releases are liberally sprinkled with old tunes, either reissued from the files or in a new setting. Somehow, the

oldies hit the spot more often |

than the bright new pieces—like meeting an old friend. New releases include: #® - =

DECCA — Decca’s biggest con-

hits of 1928, 1929, 1930 and .1931. These albums were previously reviewed in this column but they're still new enough to merit mention as top drawer listening.

Haymes and the Andrews Sisters. Nice listening, as is second side “Teresa,” a new novelty just right for the Haymes-Triple A combination. ” Crooner Haymes also has new hits “What's Good About Goodbye?” and “It Was Written in the Stars,” on wax.
