Butler's spacious Fieldhouse, capable of caring for nearly 15,000,
will house the biggest crowd as Anderson, Madison, Crawfordsville
and Lawrenceburg bid for a spot in the “Big Four.” Bloomington can accomodate close to 9000 in the I. U. field“house, Lafayette another 7600 in _the Purdue building and Muncie about 7200. All tickets long since have been sold and were at a premium today, but there will be very little scalping. IHSAA regulations in the distribution of the coveted _pasteboards will see to that. Tickets are sold only through managers of the tourneys in the four sites and through high school principals. Of course there .will be considerable resale at night by followers of the losers,
stances will be reasonable. “Games On Air
For those who weren't able to procure tickets there will be radio broadcasts emanating from each of the four semifinal centers. “Here in Indianapolis, four sta“tions * will air play-by-play accounts of the three games. * ‘Madison's classy Cubs, a vet~eran squad and with some of the -gtate’s finest talent, play the An--derson Indians in the opener here sat 1:15 o'clock and have been inthe handicappers as an

school most of this week. Crawfordsville nad three casualties, one of /them serious. Coach Lloyd (Bill) Chase is expected to use one of his certified alternates in place of a regular forward, Jim Smith, who has been {ll all week and under care of a physician. Dick Graham, a guard, also has been out of school part of this week and Toliver Kennedy, Negro ace of thé Athenians, has been nursing a heavy cold. Both latter players definitely will be available for Saturday, however.
Central Is Favored
Evansville Central, for the past three years a definite contender but never a champion, will be a slight favorite in the meet at Bloomington which shapes up as the most attractive of any of the four and will draw Commissioner L. V. Phillips of the IHSAA as one of the spectators.
The Bears were picked by Hoosier sports writers as cofavorites with Lawrenceburg to capture the title this year. They're a nine-point choice over Bloomington in the opener in the eyes of the handicappers. New Albany's big Bulldogs are selected by six points over Jasper and the Wildcats’ tricky zone defense, but there could be some surprises in the Bloomington meet and Coach Tabby O'Neill of Jasper might be the fellow to produce one. He ranks among the best in his profession. Marion Crawley, producer of successive champs at Washington, is attempting to lead Lafayette back Into the charmed circle after an absence of 32 years and his Broncos are the choice of most of the dopesters at Purdue. Lafayette Is Cholce Lafayette is a three-point choice over Hammond in the first game while South Bend Central rates a similar edge over Peru in the second. Here, again, upsets could happen and either of the “underdogs” appears quite capable of achieving them. Muncie Central will be the only host team actually playing on its own court and the Bearcats of Coach Arthur Beckner, a former Indiana ~ University all-Confer-ence player, are favored to adJance to the final four on Mar.

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Mar. 12 (UP)—Indiand State Teachers of
versity of St. Paul tonight in the first semi-final game of the National Assoelation of Intercollegiate Basketball tournament. The University of Louisville and Xavier of Cincinnati clash in the other semi-final contest. The finals will be played tomorrow. Louisville was regarded as the outstanding contender today after eliminating Beloit, Wis. College, 85 to 76, with a powerful offensive last night. Johnny Orr of Beloit scored 31 points, a new individual high for the tournament, but it was not enough to match the second half scoring drive of Glenn Combs, Jack Coleman and Deward Compton, Louisville's main guns.
