Sturdy and Rugged Fabric Is Used to Make A Line of Playclothes for Next Summer By LOUISE FLETCHER, Times Woman's Editor
LET'S HOPE THE NEWS won't set mamas to worry-
ing about their household equipment. The fact is, their daughters this summer will be wearing playclothes made of cotton ticking—the identical stuff that covers the mattresses in the bedrooms. And if their feminine offspring should pause in the midst of bed-making chores, with calculating looks in thei:
8. «0 0 ye News of this fashion development comes from Oregon where the White Stag firm makes playclothes and suntogs. They picked out this fabric, because of its colorful sturdiness, for their spring collection of duds for and vacation wear. (If the daughters will only wait a little while, they won't have to whack up the mattress coverings: Several of the White Stag outfits will be coming in later at Wasson’s.) The rugged and wearable qualities of the Cotton Tickin’ have been enhanced now that it's sanforized and made cloudsoft. It also has gone brilliart with robust colorings — picnic red, sea blue, pottery yellov and such.
A couple of style influences are carried out in the Cottor Tickin’ collection. One makes the wearer look as slimly longlegged as a colt. The other “wraps her up” in a Greek drapery effect.
One of the garments in the line is the “Sunduster,” a gk ; beachcoat styled like a shirt for i a mythical giant. It is an enveloping shirt, swirling to cal length. Side vents and outsizpockets help carry out th’ giant-shirt look. For the girls who prefer the slimmer, longer look, there's a “Sandpiper” coat, an abbreviated version of the “Sunduster.” Its pockets are still king-size, but it reaches only to the hemline of shorts.
All Lengths Represented In Shorts and Slacks
Shorts and slacks come in ar assortment of lengths. There are briefs, of course, eithe: back-buttoning or belted sidezipper styfes. But there are also “Huck Finns” (reaching . below the knee); “Clamdigyers” (whose cuffs turn ‘back at mid-calf) and “Slimlims” (covering the full length of the \underpinnings). The latter have taperec

Sciatic Pain The Condition Is Not Itself a Disease By EDWIN P. JORDAN, M. nN. It is claimed by some doctors that most cases of “sciatic nauritis” are caused by a hernia or rupture of a cartilage-like substance which lies between the) vertebrae of the spinal colunn. Certainly many cases of pain In| the sciatic nerve have been re-| lieved by the surgical treatment of this rupture. Pain in the sciatic nerve also may come from conditions slsewhere in the body. SITUATION: A host is tempted to play a practical Joke on one of his guests, for the amusement of the other guests. WRONG WAY: He goes ahead and does it, expecting the guest to be a good sport about it. RIGHT WAY: He realizes that a host's first duty is to put his guests at ease, and that embarrassing a guest by playing a practical joke on him {is rude.
