Paint, Varnish Can Hide Beautiful Wood

Now that there seems little hope of our getting nominated or, in fact, even getting invited to ‘any presidential convention, we |can come out and say that the way some people treat the inside woodwork in their houses shouldn't happen to a dogwood. There is, of course, woodwork and woodwork. Some wood has so few redeeming features that it might just as well be covered with paint or stain but there are many homes where really fine wood was used around the windows, doors, and other spots, and it's a crying shame to keep this

If the wood has been stained it may be necessary to use a commercial wood bleach to get it back to its natural color. Open grain wood such as oak and chestnut will require a filler before the finish goes on. Use a neutral shade filler so the color
