Every Sunday night following
Ihe §EHNON of She 7.30. 10 ati ce, the Rev. Mr. Boren conducts!
his new “Altar Hour,” All the electric lights go off and the only {llumination comes from the overhead - cross, the. candles in the high candlelabra and the candlesticks on the communion table. Those present in the auditorium are invited to come forward and kneel at the altar rail and pray silently for any cause with which they are concerned. Some pray for themselves, others for. the church, for friends in trouble or for the solution of personal problems.
Not & word 1s spoken. An tt-|
mosphere of ‘great reverence pre-
{ vails while the organ softly plays
a background of familiar hymns, A chief favorite is the old song, “Sweet Hour of Prayer.” When the last person has reJured 3: a seat from the aitar e lights flash on in. The Altar Hour is over gun: other week and the Sunday night meeting proceeds to its close. Most of the Protestant churches are giving serious attention to spiritual renewal and various forms of evangelism at this time because of the confusion of the world. This new type. of silent, though public, worship was conceived by|
the Roberts Park pastor for this
reason.
