Wife Left Him—He Doesn't Trust ‘Anybody

* Dear Mrs. : 0 * IHAVE A FRIEND I would like to help, He was married to a woman who had beén maryigd before. She left __heér first husband with two nice boys. My friend married her and they lived toge ther about 10 Vears- they had a boy and three girls. He worked almost night“and day te get the

things she wanted, She left him twice for another man Now she is ‘with another man and they have a Baby. My friend worked 16- hours a day on the railroad to make this woman a heme and now he has no place he can call home, His chiltiren are placed in homes and she and this man walk the streets laughing. His wife isn't even divorced. The husband just laughs and says “there will always be my day” He i$ a good-hearted “fellow -appd would give 4 man the hirt off his back”—but all he thinks about now is how much a bottle of whisky or wine cosLs ; 4 * . as I know a voung.lady who loves him very much and could help him . He'savs he has had enough of women and doesn’t trust. anybody, not sven himself, His wife would like to have him back. How can I help my (riend? J. R Often the biggest favor vou can do a friend with problems is to help him forget them—after he has “aired” them to his satisfaction. Liste if he wants to talk, but be careful that you don’t enjoy dramatizing them and conse, uently make them grow. The wife may have had some complaints” tho. 1 don't think that your friend will feel sad 100 long.” He hasn't displayed enough “back-bone” ‘lo indicate strong character. He let his wife rob him of his pride—and he is taking the easy way out— he is drinking. You can't stop the drinking ‘if he has no desire to stop—but you can encourage him to accompany you to places where there Is no drinking. y ' Tell the young lady to forget

and he always took her back

him--he is still married, .

Can *""! Receive Television in Indianapolis?

My FRIEND AND I are trying to find out if it is Bossible to re-

-etve—television—tn Indianapolis: We have been following your column dally ad enjoy it.. oy Y ONE. Television reception ordinarily is not successful a distance of more than 30 te 40 miles from a television center because it is broadcast on Irequency modulation. This means that the signals are traveling on a very short wave length and the waves Jose their intensity after that distance, Los Angeles has a powerful meountain-top television system and consequently boasts a freak television situation, A good signal is picked up in San Diego, a distance of more than 100 miles. If"a tremendously high tower were construcied to clear land obstructions, fanapolis could gef. the pignal, though weak, from Cincinnati television system, the nearest to this city. The situation could be overcome by installation of automatic relay stations er by. coaxial cables, both of whifh projects are underway in the East, Laymen find it hard te understand why television can’t be operated like radio chain broadcasting by telephone. The sound end could be managed, but pictures can't be carried because of the. nature of ‘the signals,
