Gift Box to Calais

Remember ‘Adopted’ French “School

Prench students of Shortridge High School have sent a Christmas gift box to a school which they have “adopted” in Calais, France. It is the second year in which the class has sent such a box to the school. It contained candy, clothing, paper, pencils and other school supplies. A newcomer tea for all girls above the grade of 9-B was held recently in Selleck Art "Gallery under the sponsorship of the Girls’ League and PTA. Richard Lugar, sophomore, has written “The Blue Devils of 1047, Their Football Story” in honor of the 1947 mythical city champs. “Shortridge students have formed a “Swing Your Partner” Square Dance Club supervised by Miss Alice Jane Hessler 'of the" girls physical education department, and Miss Norma Koster of the city parks and recreation department.

Mary Lockwood was one of the top 10 in the house and Richard Russell was among the best 10 in extemporaneous speaking. Bob Munger rated in the first 10 best senators.
