On Liquor Permit A split” decision of a two-to-two vote by the Maiion County Liquor Board today sent the controversial W. 10th’St. tavern fight to the State Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The deadlocked decision was on|
the application of Ilda Martin for a liquor permit to operate the Pass Time Inn at 3340 W. 10th St. A larzs delegation of residents in that neighborhood appeared before the board, protesting opening of a tavern at that corner. An equal number of residents in the same neighborhood approved the license. ‘Robert 8. Smith, board president, and Robert Allison voted for: the license. Board members Charles C.| Meischkq, and James = Courtney| voted against it, The State Board will determine whether a permit will be issued.

Test for Talents
Preliminary examinations in the Seventh Annual Science Talent Search for the Westinghouse Science Scholarships will be held at Technical High School tomorrow under supervision of Willlam R. Hawley. ‘The six students taking the lests are Betty -Lou Anderson, Roy P. Foerster, Theodore E.' Hopkins, James N. Rogers, John B. Tibbetts and M. Fred Wood. The 40 leading contestants in the nation will be given all expense trips to Washington, D. C,, to aitend the Science Talent Institute in the spring. Two contestants will be selected by judges to receive the Westinghouse Grand Science Scholarships of $2400.

Butler Cheer Drive Gets
Use of Fire Stations Butler University’s Independent Students’ Association has received permission to use city fire stations as collection depots in the annual Butler Cheer Drive.
