If the wall is not properly constructed and braced than it might well be that the door is causing the plaster to crack. Another cause could be an uneven settling between the wall and the chimney. There is also the possibility that the uneven rate of expansion and contraction between the chimney and the wall is the root of your present difficulties. The chief reason for wallpaper coming loose is that moisture has somehow got in back to the paste causing it to fail. You might check the wall and see if there is any sign of dampness.
