{Court Delay On Pool Charge

A check of his police record reveals that Big Perk has tangled frequently with the law since early 1941 and only once has he suffered. | * That was when the U. S. marshal arrested him Jan. 11, 1943, for buying and receiving stolen goods, He was fined $500 and sentenced to three years at the federal prison at Terre Haute.

Pool Books Seized

In all other tangles with the local law over gambling enterprise, he has had to pay no fines or serve prison sentences. Only once has he been found guilty and fined $25 and costs, but judgment was githheld. ¢ Sgt. Harry Yarbrough, who arrested Perkins yesterday on a charge lof keeping a room for pool selling, said a squad confiscated 1126 books of baseball pool tickets, a record {book for 1047, six tip books, three {bank clearing books and seven bank | clearing slips. An employee of Perkins, Charles |Chumley, 30, of 714 W. Ninth St, was charged with operating a lottery and gift enterprise. Charges against both were continued by Municipal Judge Joseph Howard until Nov, 28. Here's His Record |.
